Planning your studies at the Medical University of Graz
All courses and exams are exclusively offered in German! Therefore you need a profound knowledge of the German language (minimum: B1), before you come to Graz.
In the last two weeks before the official start of the term we offer a
German intensive course for exchange students (3ECTS) free of charge. If you want to participate in this course, please include it in your learning agreement.
Your learning agreement has to be accepted by the Erasmus coordinator at the Medical University of Graz and signed afterwards by your home university.
Please find below an example for a correct learning agreement.

Modules consist of lectures, seminars and practial classes. In seminars and practical classes attendance is compulsory.
Exams take place after each module. Seminars and practical classes need to be completed before taking an exam!
A description of each module is available in the curriculua (--> link on the left) and in MEDonline
Instead of doing modules, you can also do SSMs (special study modules). They are usually worth 6 ECTS credits. Please click here for further information.
A clinical elective is possible in all clinical departments of the Medical University of Graz. Depending on the departments, electives of 2 or 4 weeks are possible.
Please include the elective in your learning agreement
(Please find below an example for a correct learning agreement in German, for two semesters)
Attention: you can also choose a clinical elective or an SSM instead of a module!
Please note that it is not possible to do only practical courses.
The Department of Dentistry recommends a stay of two semesters to do the 4th year of dentistry at the Medical University of Graz.
Please contact the Erasmus coordinator for further details.
