STEP 1: Application

The following documents need to be submitted:
Please send all documents in one single PDF file in the order mentioned below.

  1. Application form
  2. CV with personal and educational data
  3. Letter of recommendation by home institution / proof of enrolment at Medical University/Faculty
  4. Copy of the highest diploma degree (officially translated into English or German)
  5. Copy of Passport (page stating name, photo and date of birth)

Only complete applications can be considered!
Incomplete applications will not be processed!

The International Office will try to accommodate requests based on availability at the departments/divisions. Please note that we may not be able to accomodate all requests.

STEP 2: Placement offer

The International Office sends a placement offer to the applicant and information on the payment modalities of the first installment.

The placement is only guaranteed after the receipt of the first installment.
The first installment must be paid in order to receive the letter of invitation.

STEP 3: Letter of Invitation

Accepted candidates receive an official letter of invitation via email. If needed, the original may be requested.

Candidates from third countries are responsible for their own entry visa application at the Austrian representative authority. Information can be found here.

STEP 4: Before/Upon arrival

The following documents need to be submitted:

  • Proof of health and accident insurance coverage for the period spent at Med Uni Graz for research activity, covering at least 30.000 EUR
  • Payment of remaining observership fee
  • Immunisation record (the latest upon arrival)

Observers are not allowed to start their observership without proper immunisation.


Please note that due to the high demand of placements, we urge our observers to plan their stay carefully, in order to avoid cancellations.
For cancellations after Step 3 (letter of invitaton), the administrative fee of 100 EUR (first installment) will not be refunded.
